Gregoire out indefinitely

UND will be missing two-thirds of its top line this weekend.

In addition to the absence of Brett Hextall (arm), which is expected to be at least a month, the Sioux also will be without their top two-way forward in Jason Gregoire.

Gregoire crashed into the boards, apparently during a warmup drill, during practice this week. He will be out indefinitely.

Hextall and Gregoire had been on the wings of the top line, centered by Corban Knight. This means we will see some major shakeups in UND’s forward units.

With some big holes to fill at forward, it would not be entirely surprising if the Sioux gave another defenseman — other than Joe Gleason – reps at forward, especially considering UND’s depth on the blue line.

This also will mean adjustments on the special teams units as Gregoire was key to the penalty kill and power play. Mike Cichy figures to continue getting a look on the power play. Perhaps, Brock Nelson will see time once again on that unit as well. I’ll also be interested to see if Derek Rodwell gets a look there.
