Marks To Fargo, Etc.

The fourth head coach of the Fargo Force will be just like the previous three — a guy with strong ties to UND.

John Marks, a former Sioux player, will follow former Sioux players Jason Herter and Steve Johnson and former Sioux coach Dean Blais as the bench boss in Fargo.

Marks, a longtime coach in the ECHL and most recently a coach of the Winkler Flyers in the MJHL, will be in charge of the Force, who are in their fourth year of existence. For a full story on Marks, go here.

Former Sioux defenseman Aaron Schneekloth, who has played for the Colorado Eagles for the last five seasons, has signed to stay with the organization as it transitions from the CHL to the ECHL this season.

Schneekloth last played in the ECHL during the 2002-03 season.

Schneekloth has twice been named the CHL defenseman of the year.

Anthony Grieco (remember him?) has signed his first professional contract. He will be playing for Asiago in the Italian league, likely backing up former Michigan State goaltender Jeff Lerg.

Grieco, who left UND for major juniors in 2007, played the last two years with the University of Western Ontario.

Former Sioux defenseman Mike Commodore will wear No. 64 for the Detroit Red Wings, so the Wings will have a Commodore 64.

Here’s a short story about that.
