Blues Claim Chorney

Taylor Chorney will be joining two of his UND teammates in St. Louis.

Chorney was claimed off of waivers by the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. He previously played for the Edmonton Oilers.

Chorney will now be teammates with forwards T.J. Oshie and Chris Porter.

“Blues claim Taylor Chorney from Edmonton!!!” Oshie tweeted. “Good buddy from college and a great player. Can’t wait to reunite. #siouxalumni #beauty.”

Blues GM Doug Armstrong told the Edmonton Journal that the team’s scouting staff liked Chorney when he was at North Dakota.

Suprising considering he was 7th or 8th guy on the oilers depth chart, I thought he was progressing but not fast enough it appears.

They tried to sneak him through waivers to send him down–not because they wanted to get rid of him. St Louis claimed him because they have some injuries. He could get send down and exposed to waivers again, who knows.

Or he could get a fresh new start, play his “Fighting Sioux” game, gain some confidence, and stick with the Blues.
To have the opportunity to play in the NHL, and play with Oshie and Porter, could be the biggest break in his Career. Nothing like playing with old friends, winning games, and making a name for yourself.
Nice to see another Sioux Player make the big leagues!!!

    Good luck Taylor!!!

Chorn’s looked good, was the last Blues player off the ice today, (usually Osh get’s the nod for that) in fact the Blues had a few drills where the “Fighting Sioux” Clique were skating up and down the ice. You could hear some of the boys chirping, great sign for Chorney as he embarks on an organization that wanted to draft Oshie 1st round (24th), then Chorney 2nd round (37th)!
