Nelson is co-WCHA offensive player of week

Two of the forwards responsible for the wild offensive weekend in Ralph Engelstad Arena were honored by the WCHA today.

UND sophomore Brock Nelson and Colorado College junior Rylan Schwartz were named co-WCHA offensive players of the week.

Nelson piled up six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in UND’s sweep of Colorado College. He also factored in on both game-winning goals. Nelson is tied for the team lead in points with 10 goals, 7 assists and 17 points.

Schwartz had back-to-back hat tricks in two losses against UND.

  1. Yea for Brock!! And wonderful to have the games televised in CO Spgs where I spent the Thanksgiving holiday with family! Now my sisters really think I’m crazy…

  2. How was Kristo not the winner of this award. He had the best weekend of his career last weekend. Good for Brock, but holy cow, Kristo was special.

  3. I kind of agree…. I haven’t always been a Kristo fan-but this year he is playing out of his head! He is playing both ends of the ice and although I think Brock is a talented player, he needs Kristo and Knight right now to help his game where I think Kristo could make it on any line right now. Either way, way to go guys!

  4. Good to see Nelly playing well. We will need him to be a force for the rest of the season. Still can’t help but think how influential a healthy Grimaldi and Miller would be right now if they were playing. Just hope that Miller not coming to UND isn’t a sign of things to come with other recruits. Either way big sweep last weekend and need to keep up the momentum. GO SIOUX.
