Finley to make NHL debut tonight

Former Sioux defenseman Joe Finley will make his NHL debut tonight for the Buffalo Sabres against the Detroit Red Wings.

The game is at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on NHL Network.

Finley started the season on an AHL contract with the Rochester Americans, but was signed to an NHL deal by the Americans’ parent club, the Sabres, earlier this week. The 6-foot-7 defenseman was promptly called up by the Sabres.

The Edina, Minn., product has many people curious to see what he can bring.

Finley will be the 14th player since Dave Hakstol took over as coach in 2004-05 to play for the Sioux and in the NHL.
