Nelson, O’Donnell Earn WCHA Honors

Brock Nelson is once again the offensive player of the week in the WCHA, while freshman Brendan O’Donnell is the league’s rookie of the week.

Nelson scored two goals Friday and two more on Saturday during UND’s sweep of Alaska Anchorage. He also added an assist for a five-point weekend. It is the second straight week that Nelson has been honored.

Nelson has 14 goals and 22 points for UND. He is one off the goal lead among WCHA players. He leads the league in WCHA goals.

O’Donnell had two goals in the weekend sweep and now has three tallies in six games since returning from a leg injury. This is the first honor for the freshman from Winnipeg.

So which is it? Does he lead the WCHA in goals, or is is one off the lead?

He is one off the goal lead for all WCHA players AND nobody has more goals than him while playing against other WCHA teams. You see, someone has more goals against non-conference teams than Nelson.

I believe its both. He leads the league in goals that are scored in league games, And is one off the mark when considering games played against non-conference opponents in addition to league games.

He is second overall in goals out of WCHA players but he has the most goals in the Conf. in league games.

The way I read it is he is leading the league in goals when considering only games against WHCA opponents. He is one off the lead when considering goals scored against all opponents.
