Avalanche Call Up Malone

The Colorado Avalanche have called up former UND forward Brad Malone and he will meet the team in Edmonton on Friday night, according to his agent. No word yet on whether he will make his NHL debut that evening or not.

Malone has been on fire for the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL, tallying 12 points in the last 10 games. He had 1 point in 14 games to start the season.

Malone received great reviews at NHL training camp this fall with the Avalanche. He could be the second former UND player to make his NHL debut in a week. Joe Finley made his debut a week earlier with the Buffalo Sabres.

Good for the Avalanche and good for Brad Malone. He was a grinder and a bruiser with his hard work ethic for the Fighting Sioux and I’m glad to see he is getting some NHL time. Well deserved.
