Rodwell out for the year

UND sophomore forward Derek Rodwell is out for the year with a shoulder injury, the school announced Thursday.

Rodwell sustained the injury during Friday’s tie against Harvard and will have surgery later this month.

The Taber, Alta., product had one goal, one assist in 19 games this season for UND, while playing his usual role of being a physical player.

The injury further depletes UND, which is already playing without Rocco Grimaldi, Corban Knight, Mario Lamoureux and Derek Forbort.

Rodwell, a fifth-round pick of the New Jersey Devils, had five goals, four assists and nine points as a rookie.

  1. What a tough year! The semester’s about to start so it’s getting pretty late but any chance of bringing in a mid-season player (or two!) for depth?

  2. Not good news for the Sioux. Hopefully the other players can get healthy fast. I would be willing to bet Marris could fill a spot if needed. Probably not the high end guy the team needs but I would bet he would play postionally sound D:) Correct me if I am wrong but does that leave the Sioux with 17 healthy players including the three goalies? Thats not even three full lines, ouch.

  3. Really hoping Forbort isn’t out for a while (or the year) either, seems awfully quiet regarding that situation.

  4. Where is Colten St Clair these days? Did he stay in schooland get his eligibility worked out?
