Congratulations Chay, this is really awesome to hear. Honestly, if you asked me if Chay would be a regular player in the NHL I would have said no. I am so glad I seem to be wrong about this. How on earth does a guy of his stature make a go of it in the NHL? What a tremendous athlete! To do what he will be asked to do at his size is really quite amazing…I am so happy for Chay and his family.

I was at the game. The voting was a feel good proposition. The first two goals were his man in front of the net – Pyatt – a big boy, too big for Chay. In any case, it was fun to watch him. He is certainly quick, but can’t match up physically against the typical NHL forward – over 6 feet and 200 lbs or thereabouts. I hope he can stay at that level though. Fun to watch. Another WCHA product – Tom Gilbert is the real deal. Chay got to play with him a few shifts and that was fun to watch.
