Novak Is NCHC’s Director Of Hockey Ops

The NCHC announced today that the director of hockey operations will be Joe Novak, the assistant athletic director at Air Force with an extensive officiating background.

Novak has served as an NHL off-ice official for the last five years. He also was an off-ice official at the 2010 Olympic Games.

Novak also has served as an on-ice official for USA Hockey for the last 25 years.

He will be in charge of the officials, issuing suspensions for illegal hits and putting together schedules.

    I’ve worked with Joe at the Academy for the past few years and he’s a pretty good guy. Definitely knows his hockey and the people that work for him certainly like him. He will be missed at the Academy but should do a great job with the NCHC.

    Anyone know if that is a picture of the Air Force Academy or somewhere else on the UND Sports app? The story on the app discusses the new hire above; however, I cannot place the picture. Thanks!

      It’s a photo of the Penrose House in Colorado Springs… a nonprofit conference and education center
