Former UND All-American defenseman Chay Genoway has re-signed with the Minnesota Wild, inking a two-year deal. Financial terms of the contract were not immediately available.
Genoway was set to become a restricted free agent on Sunday.
Genoway played one game with the Wild last year, registering an assist. He was named one of the three stars of the game.
The Morden, Man., product was the leading defenseman scorer for the Houston Aeros, tallying 36 points.
It will be interesting to see if the Wild give Genoway more of a shot next season. A year ago, the Wild were terrible offensively and didn’t have much production from the blue line, but left Genoway in Houston until the very end.
