The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed former UND captain Matt Smaby to a one-year, two-way contract worth $650,000 if he’s playing in the NHL and $105,000 if he’s in the AHL.
Smaby signed with the Ducks last season, but was injured for much of the season. He played 30 games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crush, scoring two goals and adding nine points.
During the previous four years, Smaby split time between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Norfolk Admirals.
Smaby has played 122 games in the NHL since turning pro after the 2005-06 season.
