I find it odd they didn’t use the nicer looking interlocking ND.
I totally agree. Why did they update the interlocking ND logo if they never use it. Words are for end-zones; the ND logo would have been awesome.
Indeed, the interlocking ND with subscript “North Dakota” would’ve been much better. I wonder if they didn’t do it because Notre Dame has it center ice at their hockey arena?
Just North Dakota is way too bloody bland. Reminds me of when UND had to change the center ice image for the West Regional a few years.
1. Who gives a crap what Notre Dame has as their center ice design? You honestly think that had a bearing on the decision to go with this???

I like this better than the interlocking ND, but will be missing the Fighting Sioux logo. So stupid.

Wow, that is hideous. Interlocking ND is the obvious choice. They had it at the old Ralph. I hope that font is scrapped after a couple years. It’s cartoonish.

I dont go to the Ralph to look at the decorations on the Ice, so I could care less what it looks like….Just Sayin….
At least it’s not paired with some stupid nickname. yet….. there’s no easy way to move away from the previous logo at centre ice. Let’s go win a chip and it’ll all be easier to handle.

Having the Native American word Dakota used in this fashion to decorate an ice arena is offensive and abusive, can we just have North please.
I’d have preferred the ND logo also. If they’re going to spell out North Dakota they should at least use a better font. Perhaps the font used by the ND Tourism Dept on their advertisements and the signs on the state borders.

…I think they need to do away with the word ‘North’. It will bother all of the directionists.
This “North Dakota” is so bland, I’m not even talking about on the ice…on everything they put it on now. From t-shirts, to hats, all merchandise…it is boring.
I think that it looks great. There’s A LOT of hard work put into putting the ice in, and the maintenance guys do a great job every year. It always looks great, and the hockey teams don’t have many complaints, especially now that the cement underneath has been fixed. Keep up the great work Butch, Josh, Paul, etc! It really shows how much pride you guys put into getting the ice done!
No one is saying they didnt do a good job on it or that it doesnt look good when finished, but that it is just very plain and boring
It’s the product on the ice that matters. Do you think they worry about these things at BC? No! They just hang banners and play hockey.
I’d like to see that done again at UND — in my lifetime.

Weak, but the Sioux will soon be cutting that logo to ribbons anyway (as they rip around their opponents)…..:-)
I actually kinda like just “North Dakota”. It is simple and doesn’t take anything away from what is important….the product on the ice…not underneath it. I think the interlocking ND would have wound up being flashy and distracting.
