Former UND captain Mario Lamoureux has signed a pro contract with the Ontario (Calif.) Reign of the East Coast Hockey League.
Lamoureux will be a division rival of former teammate Evan Trupp, who is with Bakersfield.
“He is the kind of player we look for,” Ontario coach Jason Christie said. “A captain from North Dakota. They have a great program out there.”
Lamoureux recorded 46 points in four years for UND. He played with Gwinnett last year after the college season ended.
“He is a good character guy and has a lot of upside,” Christie said. “I think that’s something when we put our team together, you want those guys — the guys who are going to show up for the team every night. He’s got a lot of bite in his game.”
