UND coach Dave Hakstol said this afternoon that forward Michael Parks is ruled out for this weekend’s series at St. Cloud State.
Hakstol said Parks is still probably a couple of weeks away from returning from his leg injury that he sustained during the team’s exhibition. Parks has not played in a regular season game this year.
The St. Cloud Times reported that Ben Hanowski and Joey Benik are out for this weekend and that David Morley is day-to-day. The Huskies are hoping Hanowski will be back before Christmas sometime.
As for the lineup, don’t expect wholesale changes. Hakstol said he was fairly pleased with the units. He liked what Danny Kristo did on his off wing. Although the top line didn’t dominate the scoreboard Saturday night, Hakstol pointed out that they had 16 shots on goal, which was about half of the team’s shots.
He also said they will probably keep Mark MacMillan at center. MacMillan played left wing for most of last season and he’s played both center and wing this year. Hakstol said MacMillan’s two best games this season have come while playing center.
The rest of the talk was about some of the intense games UND and St. Cloud State have played in the National Hockey Center as well as UND’s odd trend of results there. In the last 10 years, UND has not won a Friday game there (0-6-4) and has not lost a Saturday game (10-0).
The Q&A is with Connor Gaarder and Thursday’s feature will explain what happens to the hats when they are tossed on the ice after a hat trick.
