Gameday final: UND 2, Notre Dame 1

TONIGHT’S VIEWING: The game is NOT on TV, but there is a free webcast at www.und.com. No surprises in the lineup. Clarke Saunders starting in goal. Live chat and full lines are below.

First period

UND 1, Notre Dame 0 — Nick Mattson (Andrew MacWilliam, Corban Knight) 19:56. UND has possession in the zone and a forechecker, Larson, loses his stick. Mattson recognizes it, walks to the center of the ice and beats Summerhays with a blast to the glove side.

Second period

UND 2, Notre Dame 0 — Danny Kristo (Corban Knight, Dillon Simpson) 2:49 (pp). Kristo winds up with the puck alone in the  left circle. He skates it toward the net, puts a big-time deke on Summerhays and flips a backhand into the net. Highlight-reel goal.

UND 2, Notre Dame 1 — Anders Lee (Mario Lucia, Robbie Russo) 5:25 (pp). Lucia sends a shot/pass to the slot, where Lee deflects it. Saunders makes the save, but Lee finds the rebound and puts it under Saunders.

Third period

No scoring.

  1. Pretty decent web cast by Notre Dame. Missed a lot due to camera angles and no replay. Picture was pretty good. All in all….hats of to Notre Dame on the web cast. As far as the game goes……Thanks Saunders.

    • Were you watching the same webcast I was? The webcast camera quality was ok, about the same as the Midco but the camera work was ABYSMAL. There were a ton of shots on goal that were missed partially and a few entirely. MANY times they zoomed in on players that weren’t handling the puck or weren’t a part of the play.

This was a FREE webcast, for which I was thankful, but that’s what you got. There is NO WAY I’d pay for this webcast if it wasn’t free. Too poor.

In their defense, hopefully it was student run. I can understand the mistakes if they’re just learning how to run everything. If these people are pros, then they need to find new work.

      • I’ve watched several away series this season, and seasons past. I’ve commented a lot lately on how spoiled we are in GF with our camera operators. I haven’t seen anybody come close to the quality of our guys. Hats off to our crew!

      • I read somewhere it was run by the students. I thought the picture quality was pretty good. I sure can’t complain about it, it was free and a lot better then simply reading about the game after it was over. I have not read anybody articulate the goal Kristo scored and do it justice. That in and of itself was worth watching.

  2. Free webcast… couldn’t complain. You could tell they had upgraded HD cameras down on ice level (we were wearing green jerseys). When they did the main camera in the booth it looked like low def wearing black jerseys. I was thankful for it.
