Jackson Fined For Comments

Notre Dame coach Jeff Jackson has been fined and publicly reprimanded for his comments about the officiating after Notre Dame’s 2-1 loss to UND on Friday night.

Notre Dame appeared to tie the game late on a power-play goal by Anders Lee, but the referee lost sight of the puck and blew it dead before Lee found it and poked it in the net.

After the game, Jackson told the South Bend Tribune: “Regardless of what they said, it was just an awful call. The puck was free between (Saunders’) legs, I could see it from the bench with one eye. It was not frozen. The puck was laying behind him, in between his legs.”

The CCHA said that Jackson violated the league’s Good Conduct Regulations.

“The CCHA offers a number of post-game means for a coach to properly express their concerns over situations and issues that may have arisen over the course of the contest,” CCHA commissioner Fred Pletsch said in a statement. “There is no excuse or acceptable explanation for public comments about officials that are derogatory in nature.”
