PREGAME VIDEO BLOG: Check it out here.
TONIGHT’S VIEWING: Midco Sports Network, FCS Central, DirecTV 626.
NOTES: Only change for UND is Panzarella in for Mattson. DU still going with 10 forwards. Sam Brittain vs. Clarke Saunders in net. Full lines and live chat are below.

First period

Denver 1, UND 0 — Grant Arnold 1:25. Gleason curls around the boards in the D-zone and attempts to send a pass to Rowney in the circle. Rowney doesn’t see it and it goes into the slot, where Arnold picks it up and scores.

Denver 1, UND 1 — Rocco Grimaldi (Drake Caggiula, Carter Rowney) 17:10. Rowney wins a faceoff, Caggiula taps it back to Grimaldi, who snaps one by Brittain’s blocker from the high slot.

Second period

UND 2, Denver 1 — Derek Forbort (Rocco Grimaldi, Carter Rowney) 5:57 (pp). Grimaldi’s shot from the left circle hits traffic and goes to the right circle, where Forbort has a wide open net to look at. Forbort doesn’t get all of it, but enough to get past Brittain.

UND 3, Denver 1 — Carter Rowney (Rocco Grimaldi, Joe Gleason) 7:21 (sh). Grimaldi skates up the right wing, leading a two-on-one with Rowney. Grimaldi shoots hard far pad, Rowney has great hands to put away the rebound with authority.

UND 4, Denver 1 — Carter Rowney (Rocco Grimaldi, Drake Caggiula) 15:39. UND scores on a great passing play. Caggiula, coming up the right wing, sends it to Grimaldi in the circle. Grimaldi makes a nifty pass to Rowney, who cut backdoor and finished it off with a tip.

UND 4, Denver 2 — Ty Loney 16:17 (pp). Early in a five-minute major to Senkbeil, Loney picks off a pass and skates in the zone two-on-one. He makes a great move to fake a shot, get Saunders down and wrap it behind him.

UND 4, Denver 3 — Joey LaLeggia (Nolan Zajac, Chris Knowlton) 16:34 (pp). DU scores again early in the major power play as LaLeggia snipes one from the top of the left circle on a rush.

Third period

UND 5, Denver 3 — Danny Kristo (Corban Knight, Joe Gleason) 16:53. Just as a power play expires, Kristo makes a move to get around a forechecker at the point, then snipes one with MacMillan providing the screen.

UND 6, Denver 3 — Corban Knight (Mark MacMillan, Derek Rodwell) 19:00 (en). MacMillan hits the post with his chance at the empty net, but Knight puts it away.

  1. The guy Kristo goes around on the fifth goal is not a forechecker, you forecheck in the offensive zone, back check to your defensive zone. The guy Kristo goes around is a defender

  2. Denver is really falling in love with their short players excuse. UND was shorthanded for a good portion of last year and i don’t remember hakstol using that excuse once.

  3. Nice win. I have to say it……will somebody tell our D to stop backing into their goaltender? ND defenseman always stand forwards up at the blue line……these guys are backing in to 10-15 feet in front of our goalie. Teams will take that all day long and they have…..and have scored! I’m surprised nothing has been said???
