UND players aim at Olympics

A handful of UND players, current and former, are aiming at Olympic bids right now in Europe.

Tanja Eisenschmid and Susanne Fellner (Germany), Jorid Dagfinrud and Andrea Dalen (Norway) and Josefine Jakobsen (Denmark) are all currently playing in qualifiers and we’ll soon know who is on their way to Sochi.

Norway, Japan, Slovakia and Denmark are battling for one spot.

Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Germany and China are battling for the other spot.

Today, Denmark earned a big 2-1 win over Slovakia (Jakobsen registered an assist). Slovakia was one of the teams in the 2010 Vancouver Games. Norway lost to Japan 4-3.

In the other pool, Germany beat China (another 2010 Olympic qualifer) 3-1. Eisenschmid scored the game-winning goal.
