Gothberg starting.

First period

UND 1, Michigan Tech 0 — Michael Parks (Rocco Grimaldi) 7:03. Parks flies up the right wing and beats Tech’s Gordic along the wall. He centers a pass to the slot area, where Tech’s Sova goes down to block it. The pass goes off of Sova and past Phillips.

UND 1, Michigan Tech 1 — Ryan Furne (Alex Petan, Jujhar Khaira) 14:38 (pp). Skating on a major power play, Petan gets the puck near the end line and finds a wide-open Furne at the point. Furne blasts a one-timer to tie the game.

UND 2, Michigan Tech 1 — Dillon Simpson (Danny Kristo, Corban Knight) 18:07 (pp). Kristo skates around a Michigan Tech forward and makes a nifty backhand setup for Simpson who blasts a point shot through a Parks screen for a power-play goal.

Second period

UND 2, Michigan Tech 2 — Jacob Johnstone (Ryan Furne, Bradley Stebner) 1:48. Johnstone throws in a shot from the boards, unscreened that goes past Gothberg.

UND 3, Michigan Tech 2 — Derek Rodwell 15:45. Rodwell splits two forwards and skates in the zone with space and rips a shot off the post and in. It’s Rodwell’s second goal of the year. Both have come against Tech.

Third period

UND 4, Michigan Tech 2 — Danny Kristo (Dillon Simpson, Joe Gleason) 4:33 (pp). Kristo holds the puck at the point, gets a defenseman to go down, the snaps a shot through a lot of traffic and a Parks screen.

UND 4, Michigan Tech 3 — Riley Sweeney 15:14. Sweeney dumps the puck in from mid-ice and it goes five-hole on Gothberg.

UND 5, Michigan Tech 3 — Danny Kristo (Brendan O’Donnell, Carter Rowney) 16:12. Just 58 seconds after Gothberg’s gaffe, Kristo takes over and scores again. He is denied from point blank by Phillips, but Kristo finds the rebound, toes the puck around a defender who is on the ground and banks one off the goalie.

Sensing some trouble ahead. Tech MIGHT just be the most problematic “underdog” team the Sioux could face right now…..
