Rowney signs ATO with Abbotsford

Former UND forward Carter Rowney has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Abbotsford Heat, the top minor league affiliate of the Calgary Flames.

Rowney will join Abbotsford for the rest of the season. It will be a good opportunity for Rowney to try to earn a contract for next season.

Last summer, Rowney attended Calgary’s summer camp and reportedly played very well there.

As a senior, the Sexsmith, Alta., product was UND’s fourth-leading scorer with 27 points in 41 games. He was fifth on the team with 10 goals.

For his career, Rowney had 32 goals and 73 points in 150 games.

  1. I thought it was interesting that the tweet about this had him as a RW. I always thought his play was best at center.
