Team USA scored a late, game-tying goal, killed a Russia power play in overtime and won a shootout to advance to the gold medal game.
Miami recruit Anthony Louis scored the tying goal with 2:05 remaining to even the game 3-3.
The Russians had a golden chance to win the game with a 4-on-3 power play in overtime, but the local guys – defensemen Gage Ausmus and Keaton Thompson – both played key roles in getting that power play killed.
In the shootout, Tyler Kelleher and J.T. Compher scored, while goalie Thatcher Demko blanked the Russians.
The Americans will play Canada in the gold medal game at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
