UND women land major recruit

UND women’s hockey coach Brian Idalski tweeted this morning that he received a National Letter of Intent from UND’s top targeted forward for the 2013 class.

While he didn’t say who it was yet, I can guarantee that it is Finnish National Team forward Susanna Tapani. I know that UND had been pursuing her.

It’s a big get for UND, which will be looking to replace a ton of offense lost with the graduation of the Lamoureux twins.

Tapani recently played for Finland at the IIHF World Championship.

  1. Hopefully they will get her through NCAA clearinghouse faster than they did with Karvinen.

  2. Absolutely Awesome! :). Look forward to some snippen action next year already!!!! That and Kristo in uny with USA. How’d poker go for yas brad ? Make anything

  3. Would Karvinen and Tapani even play at UND next year or do they take the whole year off for Olympic team

    • From what I’ve heard, Finland isn’t centralizing for the whole season. Instead, they are planning to have two-week camps periodically. I don’t know how much of the season a Finnish player would miss beyond the Olympics and a camp just prior to the games. IIRC, that was four series in 2010.

    • Not real easy to detect sarcasm in a text comment. Especially in the context you used. For all we know, you are just not very bright.
