Chase for the Cup begins

Will a third UND player win the Stanley Cup in four years?

We’ll find out over the course of the next month and a half.

The greatest time of the year for hockey junkies, aka the NHL playoffs, start tonight with two of UND’s biggest stars going head to head. It’s captainĀ Jonathan Toews and the Chicago Blackhawks against alternate captainĀ Zach Parise and the Minnesota Wild.

Toews and Parise are two of six regulars who are in the chase for the Cup. The others are T.J. Oshie and Chris Porter of the St. Louis Blues, alternate captain Matt Greene of the Los Angeles Kings and Matt Frattin of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  1. I think Taylor Chorney got called up to the Blues. I didn’t catch their game last night so I don’t know if he dressed or was a healthy scratch, but I believe he’s on the roster now.

  2. Looking at the box score on espn.com, Chorney was scratched last night. Hopefully he gets the chance to play during the series though!
