SJHL Goalie Commits For 2013-14

UND has received a goalie commitment from Matt Hrynkiw for the upcoming season, presumably to back up and try to challenge sophomore-to-be Zane Gothberg and senior-to-be Clarke Saunders.

Hrynkiw won the SJHL goaltender of the year award, posting a .939 save percentage and a 1.83 goals-against average.

The 21-year-old is from Saskatoon, Sask., and is a finalist for the CJHL goalie of the year award.

This could get interesting. Stellar numbers and not a bad size at 5’11” and 179lbs.

Well, this is a major, major pick up. Sorry to all those who think we actually have a true Div. I goaltender…..we don’t. This is UND’s #1 need if they are to make it back to the Frozen Four. The two goalies on scholly now are serviceable at best. Let’s hope the new guy reminds us of Eddie more than he reminds us of last years back stoppers. This is great, great news!!

Our goalies not good enough for getting team to final four? They were both our best players at the regional and the team was 7 and a half minutes away from making it to Pittsburgh. Not D-1 calibre goalies? Both are very good and played well most of the time. Each had a few games they would like some goals back.

Well the bright side is that we don’t have to worry about this guy getting any minors..
