Tambellini tests well

Adam Tambellini will be coming to UND in shape.

At least that’s the way it appears after seeing NHL Combine testing results from the weekend. Tambellini had the lowest body fat (5.0 percent) and the lowest sum of skinfolds (14 mm).

Tambellini finished one spot ahead of Jonathan Drouin in both categories. Drouin will be a top-three pick.

UND recruit Keaton Thompson also attended the NHL Combine and tested well in the pushup category.

  1. I’ve heard anecdotally that NHL trainers prefer body fat somewhere in the 10-12% range, anything less and a player’s recovery period after a game can take longer, with a risk of not being fully recovered by the next game if its soon after. Any light on that?

  2. Read an article in SI about Jerry Rice back in the mid-90′s. I recall him saying that he tried to keep his body far somewhere around 7% because he just didn’t feel healthy when it dipped below that.
