UND gets goalie commit

UND has lined up a goalie to replace Clarke Saunders after next season.

Fargo Force goalie Cam Johnson has verbally committed to UND and will come to campus in the fall of 2014.

Johnson, who is 6-2, 200, led Fargo to the Clark Cup Finals last season, posting a .909 save percentage and a 3.07 goals-against average. Johnson was at his best in the playoffs, posting a .931 save percentage and a 2.40 goals-against.

The Troy, Mich., product has a 1994 birthday and previously played at the Little Caesars program.

  1. Well, Brad, do you think he will be any good at the college level? How would you compare him to the other goalie who committed for this year (2013-2014)?

    • Hard to compare because I’ve never seen Hrynkiw play. I’m curious to follow Johnson more closely next season. The last game I saw of his this year, he stopped 40/43 shots.

      • I’d give my left arm to take Hyrnkiw back in time enough to hear what Mazzako and Woog would pronounce it like. 😀

  2. Johnson’s pretty popular here in Fargo. I did go to one of the playoff games this year, and while the Force did lose, it was a 2-1 loss. He was solid until the 3rd period. For sure, he could improve more before he comes to UND.
