Senkbeil transfers to Vermont

UND walk-on Dan Senkbeil says he has transferred to the University of Vermont, where he will return to his natural position of defense.

He will sit out this year per NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility remaining after that.

Senkbeil, who became known as Jim or Jimmer in Grand Forks, came to campus as a defenseman, but was moved to forward due to UND’s injury problems. He was a fixture in the lineup at the end of the 2011-12 season.

Senkbeil remained at forward after that. He played in 19 of 42 games last season, registering one goal and two points. His goal was a game-winner against Wisconsin.

Vermont has several connections to UND on the roster, including Steph Pattyn’s brother, Yvan Pattyn, Brett Bruneteau’s brother, Nick Bruneteau, and one-time UND commit Matt White.

  1. If you just want to play hockey while getting an education, why not do it at a school where you have a good chance at playing and has the environment that Burlington provides. If you have never been there, it is a beautiful college town!
