Caggiula released from hopsital

UND sophomore forward Drake Caggiula has been released from the hospital after all of his tests came back negative.

He has movement and feeling in all extremities and no fractures.

His father, Sal, told the Herald he watched the third period of the game in discomfort from the hospital, but that he appears to be OK.

It’s a good ending to what was a scary situation at the Ralph.

Caggiula attempted to hurdle a fallen Team USA player, but was upended and landed on his neck/head area. Caggiula remained on the ice, motionless, for about 10 minutes as medical personnel loaded him on a stretcher.

Teammate Andrew Panzarella accompanied Caggiula in the ambulance to the hospital.

UND ended up scoring three goals right after Caggiula went out and it won the exhibition game 4-1 over the U.S. Under-18 team.

  1. What a relief. Thanks for updating with this news. Still sending healing white light to Drake and his family who have endured a very rough night and will still need some time to process and heal…

  2. Was not able to read the news or watch the game until now. Honestly just choked up a little bit hearing about Cagg and his bud Panz accompanying him to the hospital! That kinda of stuff is crazy scary and I am just so glad to hear he is ok! Best Wishes to Caggiula and his family
