Casey Purpur to make college debut tonight

Fittingly, former Grand Forks Central standout Casey Purpur will make his college debut in his hometown tonight.

Northern Michigan coach Walt Kyle said that the Grand Forks native will be in the lineup and will be announced as a starter for tonight’s nonconference game between UND and the Wildcats.

Purpur, who has spent the last few years in the NAHL, will wear No. 2 for the Wildcats.

The game will feature three members of the 2010 state champion Grand Forks Central Knights team. UND rookies Luke Johnson and Paul LaDue were on that squad along with NMU’s Purpur.
