Goehring leaving THA

The Hockey Academy announced today that director Karl Goehring is leaving for a new job in another field.

Goehring said in a statement: “This was a very personal decision to move on that involved a number of factors, most notably my own family and responsibilities as a father. I am grateful for the time that I had as Director and wanted to thank all of you for choosing to work with me over the past three years. It has been a privilege getting to know and work with so many great kids and families.”

The new director will be Eli Rosendahl, who has been with The Hockey Academy since the start.

Goehring said he will continue as UND’s volunteer goalie coach.

The Hockey Academy certainly appears to have been a success with a significant jump in Division I players from this area compared to the five years before it started. Pretty much every one of the Division I players worked out there, including UND rookies Paul LaDue (GF), Luke Johnson (GF), Gage Ausmus (EGF) and Keaton Thompson (Devils Lake), as well as UND commits Tucker Poolman (EGF) and John Simonson (GF).
