Healthier UND Headed To Vancouver

UND will drive up to Winnipeg tonight and fly to Vancouver ahead of this weekend’s exhibition games against the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser.

The good news: UND coach Dave Hakstol said the break was very good for the team and it has helped heal a lot of injuries.

A couple of notables: Hakstol said that Mark MacMillan and Colten St. Clair are both full gos.

It has been a while since we’ve seen the real Mark MacMillan as he’s battled injuries since early November. He was expected to be one of the team’s top scorers and to players this year, so to get him back to 100 percent (or close to) could be very important for the team.

St. Clair returned for one game against Northern Michigan, but was held out of the series finale as he was eased back in. When he went down with an injury, UND’s penalty kill percentage took a huge hit.

UND will still hold Brendan O’Donnell out this weekend as he recovers from his arm injury.

Hakstol said that they will probably keep Gage Ausmus out of the lineup as well. Ausmus was injured late in UND’s series finale against Northern Michigan. Ausmus’ injury is listed as lower body. He walked into Saturday’s postgame presser with a big ice bag on his knee.

UND is planning on attending the Canucks-Lightning game tomorrow night. Assistant coach Dane Jackson is a former Canucks player.

I will be headed out there in the morning as well and will have plenty of updates from out there, so stay tuned.

Oh the perks of being associated/work/play/follow the Fighting Sioux:). A trip to British Columbia right after New Years… How cool! Now that’s what I call a recruiting tactic, for current and future players. Nice work Faison and co.
