Parise scores, USA-Canada is next

Captain America Zach Parise scored his first of the Olympics and helped Team USA grab a 5-2 win over the Czech Republic on Wednesday, setting up a showdown between the U.S. and Canada at 11 a.m. Friday.

James vanRiemsdyk, Dustin Brown, David Backes and Phil Kessel also scored for the Americans, who once again put forth a strong effort.

Canada, meanwhile, survived an upset bid by surprising Latvia. Thanks to a late goal by Shea Weber, with an assist to UND’s Jonathan Toews, the Canadians advanced to the semifinals.

So, there will be USA-Canada games on back-to-back days.

Lastly, here’s a photo that displays what the Olympics does: Gophers, Sioux and Badgers become friends.

    • I agree but Latvia goalie kept them in it much longer than the should have been in it… Brad could give you the SOG but it was way lopsided towards Canada and anyone who saw the game only knew it was a matter of time. That being said, USA has some good video on how to keep that canuck squad under control. I don’t think I am the only one that thinks this Canadian team is very beatable come friday.
