NCHC playoff matchups set

UND will host Colorado College in the first round of the NCHC playoffs next weekend in Ralph Engelstad Arena.

The four home teams are St. Cloud State, UND, Nebraska Omaha and Minnesota Duluth. If all four top seeds win, it would create an ideal situation for attendance for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff in the Target Center.

Also of note, Denver will be on the road for the first time in more than a decade. The last time the Pioneers were on the road in the first round of the playoffs was 2002-03, when they came to Grand Forks and lost in three. I am envisioning Gwoz in Florida sitting by a pool with his feet up and a little smirk on his face.

NCHC first round

No. 8 Miami at No. 1 St. Cloud State
No. 7 Colorado College at No. 2 North Dakota
No. 6 Denver at No. 3 Nebraska Omaha
No. 5 Western Michigan at No. 4 Minnesota Duluth

  1. I have to agree in a previous post… although it sucks not too win the Penrose I think playing a Miami team would be bad. I know they haven’t been playing well but they have the talent to wrap off a post-season win or two… they can be spoiler

  2. So if the tournament would begin today, UND would end up out east… Vs Ferris State and with Union and North Easters opposite them… I would love that draw…

  3. That is funny Schlossman, I was thinking the same thing about Gwoz. On the same note as Ryan said, I would hate to play Miami in the first round. With the teams in the NCHC, nobody is safe though. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

  4. where can we watch the Sioux this weekend …. in ATLANTA,GA …I am
alumni chair and want to put on a party…..Friday nite
