Simpson leads major award finalists

UND captain Dillon Simpson is a finalist for three major awards, while Zane Gothberg is a finalist for goalie of the year and Dave Hakstol is a finalist for coach of the year. Simpson is a finalist for NCHC player of the year, defenseman of the year and offensive defenseman of the year.

The awards will be handed out Thursday at a banquet in the Twin Cities.

  1. Are you at all surprised that LaDue isn’t in the running for rookie of the year? I don’t think he would win, but I think the recognition would have been appropriate.

  2. Would think that Simpson should win the defenseman of the year, and LaLeggia, the offensive defenseman of the year.
