Greene, Kings take Game 1

Matt Greene is three wins away from winning his second Stanley Cup.

Thanks to Justin Williams’ overtime winner, the Kings rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat the New York Rangers 3-2 on Wednesday.

Greene had another strong game for the Kings, registering a +2 rating. He is now +5 in the last two games for the Kings and was on the ice for both overtime winners.

Greene also played a big role on the penalty kill, which held the Rangers scoreless on its three power-play chances.

Oh, and Greene also had a little patching up to do in the second period.

      • You really cant expect that. college is such a brief time in their lives. It makes a lot more sense for them to bring the cup to their hometowns.

        • He did that 2 years ago. Hopefully this time he brings it back to GF. Matt is still a huge supporter of the green!

          • Went to a Kings/Avs game this year and my friend and I wore our Sioux jerseys. We hung out next to the glass to watch the Kings warmup and Greene saw us and tossed a puck over the glass. We got a Go Sioux from him as well.

      • When he won the Cup in 2012, he was debating between bringing it to Grand Ledge, MI or Grand Forks. Obviously he brought it home (which is expected), but he did wear a UND hoodie while celebrating with it. IF he’s lucky enough to win it again, I would think there is a good chance he brings it to Grand Forks. I believe he still has strong ties to the university, including an endowment. I guess we shall see.
